We hold your email address, the parcel you asked about and the fact that you paid. We do not hold your card, we do not sell anything to anyone, and we do not run advertising or analytics trackers.
What we collect
When you check an address, we record the parcel index number that was looked at and whether it qualified. That record carries no name, no email address and no device identifier, and we keep it only to count how many checks the site does in a week.
When you buy a packet, Stripe collects your email address and your payment details and passes us the email address, the parcel index number and the amount. We never see or store your card number. We keep the order record so that we can send the packet, send it again if it goes missing, and refund you if you ask.
When you write to us, we hold the message so that we can answer it.
What we do not collect
No advertising trackers, no analytics scripts, no cookies for profiling. The site stores one thing in your browser, which renditon of the page you chose, light or dark. That never leaves your browser and we cannot read it.
Who else sees it
Three companies, each for one job. Stripe processes the payment and holds the payment record. Resend sends the email that carries your packet. Cloudflare serves the site and holds the order record. Nobody else receives your data, and we do not sell, rent or trade it.
The parcel data itself is public: Cook County publishes every assessed value and every property characteristic on this site openly, and we publish no ownership names, no mailing addresses and no contact details from the county's records, even where the county publishes them.
How long we keep it
Order records stay while we might still owe you a refund or a resend, and for as long as tax law requires the sale to be documented. The anonymous count of address checks is kept indefinitely because it identifies nobody. Email correspondence is kept for one year.
What you can ask for
Write to contact@appealcomps.com and ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. We answer within 30 days. Deleting an order record means we can no longer resend the packet or process a refund for it, so we will say so before we do it.
Children
This is a service for property owners. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
