AppealComps Privacy Notice

1. Who we are

The operator of appealcomps.com, trading as AppealComps is the controller of the data described here. Contact: contact@appealcomps.com.

2. What we process

Firm contact data. The name, email address, and firm of lawyers. We get it at checkout, or from the firm's own website where the firm publishes it. We use it for our sales emails and to deliver orders.

Order records. Your email address, what you ordered (a parcel or a list), the amount, the date, and any message you send us. Stripe takes your card details. We never see your card number.

Property records. The parcel index number (PIN), property address, assessed values, and property characteristics that Cook County publishes as open data. We use them to build our lists and evidence packets.

We do not sell or publish owner names or mailing addresses. Our lists do not contain them.

The site has no advertising trackers and no profiling cookies. It counts address checks anonymously, by PIN and result, with no name, email, or device identifier. Your browser stores one setting: light or dark.

3. Why we use it

• Firm contact data: our legitimate interest in emailing professionals at their business address about a product for their work. If you buy, the contract.
• Order records: the contract, and the tax and accounting rules that apply to us.
• Property records: our legitimate interest in building analysis from public records.

4. Who receives it

Four service providers process data for us.

• Stripe: payments. Stripe or its Link service may act as merchant of record and send your receipt and invoice.
• Resend: sending email.
• Cloudflare: hosting the site and holding order records.
• GitHub: storing our code and site files.

Law firms that buy a list receive property-level records only, under terms that limit them to internal use. We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to anyone else.

Some providers are in the United States. They handle data under the transfer terms they offer.

5. How long we keep it

Order records: while a refund or resend may be due, and as long as tax law requires. Sales contacts: until you object, and then only your address on a suppression list, so we never write to you again. Email correspondence: one year.

6. Sales emails: how to object

Use the unsubscribe link in any sales email, reply UNSUBSCRIBE, or write to contact@appealcomps.com. We stop within 10 business days and aim to stop the same day. We ask for nothing else.

7. Asking us to remove a property from our lists

Write to contact@appealcomps.com with the subject "Property removal" and give the PIN or the property address. We add the parcel to a suppression list and leave it out of every future list, within 10 business days. We do not ask for proof of ownership or a copy of your ID.

Two limits apply. Lists already delivered to law firms stay with those firms under their license. And we cannot change the Cook County record. To change what the Assessor publishes, contact the Cook County Assessor's Office.

8. Your rights

You may ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, delete it, or limit its use, and object to our use of it. Write to contact@appealcomps.com. We answer within one month.

If the GDPR applies to you, these are your rights under that law. You may complain to the Commission for Personal Data Protection of Bulgaria (www.cpdp.bg), which supervises us, or to the authority in your own country.
