What happens when you write
Every message gets an acknowledgement within a minute or two, and a real answer within one business day. If your message carries an index number and says the packet did not arrive, the packet is rebuilt and sent again automatically before a person has even read the message.
The three things people write about
The packet did not arrive. Check spam first, because a PDF attachment from a new domain lands there more often than it should. Then write to us with the index number and it is sent again.
The figures look wrong. Tell us what the county shows for your parcel and what we showed. Either we explain where the difference comes from, which is usually a township being certified after we read the roll, or we refund you.
A refund. Ask within 30 days with the index number and it is done, no reason needed. See the terms.
What we cannot answer
We cannot tell you whether your appeal will succeed, advise you on what to write in a complaint form, or act for you at either office. We are not a law firm and not a property tax agent. For that you want an attorney who practises before the Cook County Board of Review.
The county's own offices
